Evaluations
June 2020: Smith’s game has come a long way from our early days. She’s at the point in her development where in comparison to her peers she’s mastered a lot of the concepts that we teach. At that point, it becomes about taking what Smith’s mastered and continuing to push the envelope inside of gameplay. She has been a joy for our staff to watch progress. We’re seeing her reap the fruits of countless sessions and hours sharpening her craft.
March 2020: Smith used the high school season to show she’s taken her reputation as one of the state’s best shooters and expanded it, literally. She’s shooting the ball well behind the high school line and is showing deep range, even for the college arc. She’s added the perfect complement to it with her much improved mid-range pull up. She plays solid minutes at the point position as well where her vision and passing touch are obvious. She’s gotten stronger which has allowed her to be effective in big games in the post season. Defensively the style her high school plays has made her more aggressive.
Sept. 2018-EBA All American Camp: For the second straight week, Smith took full advantage of the chance to get extra skill instruction. It’s that type of work ethic that has elevated her game to a new level over the last 12 months. For Smith, proving that she can make an open shot off of the bounce is the next step in her progression. If she’ll keep that same energy for the next 12 months, improving that skill shouldn’t be an issue at all.
June 2016: EBA Super 64: Smith is a guard who can knock down the open jumper. She has great technique and confidence to pull the trigger when open. The rest of her game is coming along and she is committed to getting better with every drill and station. Currently still in middle school, Smith is developing physically. She is years away from reaching her potential, but she has a good foundation of skills.
